Mary Ann Rogers
We look forward to another exhibition by award winning artist Mary Ann Rogers, who is a regular exhibitor at Upfront Gallery. Mary Ann, is an artist who is absorbed in her subject matter – mainly wildlife, farm and exotic animals and birds, as well as dramatic autumn landscapes. Integrity being central to all of Mary Ann’s work, she spends as much time creeping through wet heather on remote hillsides, sitting in dirty farmyards and lying on the muddy ground in order to fully understand and absorb her subject matter as she does painting in her stunning, purpose-built studio at her remote home in the Rede Valley, Northumberland.
"A Painters Vision"
10th Jul 2012 - 19th Aug 2012
An exhibition of recent works painted in the open air by the acclaimed Irish artist, Chris Mcloughlin. Working at various locations in the Lake district and across Lancashire over the past eight months, Chris Mcloughlin has produced a collection of small to medium sized, open air works which will be presented at the Upfront Gallery. Mcloughlin's paintings are concerned with the effects of light and colour from direct observation. This exhibition sets out to record his vision of the landscape in its simplicity and painted during all kinds of weather.

Chris McLoughlin
This will be Chris McLoughlins' second solo exhibition at Upfront. His passion is to paint "en plein air" - in the open air ( whenever the British weather permits). He often works at sunrise and sunset, throughout the seasons, chasing light. Chris is based in Lancashire and uses oil as his primary medium. Inspired by landscape, bold brush marks, vibrant colours, light and shadows, Chris strives to create exciting and evocative paintings that capture the imagination and essence of the subject.
